Perdiz hunting is sometimes a "forgotten" hunt when clients call and book a Uruguay duck hunting trip. The Perdiz hunt is unique to the South American bird hunting options and one the wing shooter should not miss. The use of highly trained dogs makes this Upland hunt a grand one and the opportunity and challenge for the wing shooter to hunt Perdiz is a great addition to any Uruguay duck hunt. Los Gauchos offers Perdiz hunting out of the Fortin Lodge, located near Chuy during the Perdiz hunting season.

The duck hunting season for Uruguay ducks begins May 1st and lasts until September, great for duck hunters and Los Gauchos books 8 hunters during the duck hunting season. Now, you can include a Uruguay duck and Perdiz hunt at the Fortin Lodge that would include a 4 day hunt with ducks in the morning and afternoon and a Perdiz hunt on 1 or 2 of the afternoons.

The Perdiz hunt takes place in the farm fields and with guides and dogs that are ready for the Perdiz action! These small but mighty birds are quick and provide some great wingshooting action. There is a limit for the Perdiz hunt. Ten perdiz per hunter per day and at the Fortin Lodge, you will get your limit, no problem!

The Perdiz are tasty on the table. The chef at Fortin will likely prepare some delicious appetizers using the Perdiz the group gets during an afternoon hunt.

The only requirement is comfort. Wear comfortable shoes. Uruguay farmland is not full of catci or rodents, so just pack comfortable walking boots and layers - even in the midst of winter, it can reach 60 degrees, and for some of our Canadian and Northeast US hunters, this is summertime weather!

Perdiz hunting has always been a popular hunt with the European clients that hunt with Los Gauchos. They enjoy the challenge and the easy walk with a great background of Uruguay scenery. The work of the dogs is amazing, to see a setter sniff and go on point during a Perdiz hunt is something you will not want to miss.

Perdiz hunting is also combined with the Uruguay dove hunting. Located in the northwest part of Uruguay, dove roosts that are by the millions are awaiting you, the wingshooter. The Uruguay dove hunt is great for the first time visit to Uruguay and wingshooting. There is no season, there are no limits. That is sometimes hard to believe, so let Los Gauchos repeat and assure you of this fact. Uruguay dove hunting takes place year round and the limit is the number shells you can reload and the hours in the day.

During the months of May, June, and July a Uruguay dove hunt can be combined with Uruguay Perdiz hunting and again, what a great addition to the really high volume, fast action, dove hunting in Uruguay. A stroll with the bird dogs, guide and Perdiz makes for a perfect Uruguay bird hunt.
